Storyline

The movie starts with Kizie Basu played by Sanjana Sanghi and she narrates about her life in Jamshedpur and her thyroid cancer. And then comes the bubbly and extrovert Immanuel Rajkumar Junior played by Sushant Singh Rajput. Immanuel (Manny) has a false leg. He promises his friend JP that he will finish the film and release it if anything happens to him as he is suffering from eye cancer and has already lost one eye and could lose another eye too.

It starts with Manny nagging Kizie to work with him in a film with his friend JP and then that nagging turns to a friendship and then love. Kizie suggests to Manny a song which he initially hates but then he grows to love it.  But the song is incomplete, they find the writer and to meet him they decide to go to Paris.

But before they could go Kizie’s health deteriorates and she is hospitalized. After that setback they go to Paris where they meet the writer, Abhimanyu Veer (Saif Ali Khan) but he couldn’t complete the song for them. In Paris, Manny confesses to Kizie that he has been detected with cancer and at last stage. It is very heartbreaking for Kizie.

They return back to India and Manny’s health starts taking a toll. He asks Kizie and JP to write eulogy  for him while he’s alive so he could listen to them. Manny dies and leaves a letter for Kizie. It contains the complete song which with the help of Saif Ali Khan Manny leaves for Kizie

“Janam kab lena hai aur marna kab hai yeh hum decide nehi kar sakte, lekin kaise jeena hai woh toh hum decide kar sakte hai”

Our Views

Being the last movie of Sushant Singh Rajput and his fan following it is already a hit. And also the book already had catched a lot of teenage fans. I remember when I was young I read the book and was so much lovestruck with Augustus Waters and his personality. And I literally cried at the end of the book.

This movie catches and hits a part of your heart and leaves an impression. It is a combination of comedy and romance. It already has an IMBd rating of 10/10 on the first day itself.

At one point Manny tells Kizie that love makes everything okay. He then uses the word “Seri”, which confuses Kizie.
She then asks him what the word “Seri” actually means. He then tells that “Seri” is actually a Tamil word that means ‘okay’. She then decides to make “Seri” their ‘secret word’, a word that will help them remember that everything will be okay in life.

“Seri, Kizie Basu?

Seri, Immanuel Rajkumar Junior”

This film gives a message to face death with a smiling face. In the end when JP and Kizie reads their eulogy for Manny that is the most emotional heart touching scene. And it leaves everyone tear eyed till the end. Manny will always be special to you and me, as it will be the last time we will see the stunning Sushant on screen, telling us a new story.
