All the Christmas films I’ve watched so far give us warmth and embrace us with the holidays festivities. This year Netflix presented us with “Holidate” starring Emma Roberts and Luke Bracey.

Sloane (Holidate)

It is a movie about Sloane (Roberts) and Jackson (Bracey) who are single for a very long time. They accidently meet in a mall during Christmas and indulge in a conversation about Holidate – which means having a date only for the holidays. They start doing that for all the holidays like New Year’s, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s day and Halloween. Till halloween they have started to develop feelings for each other but are not able to express it. Jackson tells her his feelings but she thought he was just being sympathetic and at Christmas Sloane publicly expresses her love for him.

Throughout the movie Sloane seems very irritating in every way. The first words which come out her mouth are “Fucking Holidays” and from that we can sense the tone of the film. This movie falls in the rom-com category but it fails to provide either of them. And it’s just a jumble of both and in a very terrible way. 

The poster and the trailer seemed very positive but the movie didn’t give that quality of humor. So we can always watch the classic’s and spend our holidays.
